This evening, state education officials announced that the closure of the schools for the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March deeply undercut the state's mandate of 180 days to complete a full academic year. Intense summer programming was on the table, but officials made their final decision to use the 2020-2021 academic year as a "redo." Students will return to school on schedule in September for the second time as a student in their current grade.
