Due to the decrease in commercial fishing activity and cargo ship traffic caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, sharks are moving closer to shore. In fact, some are moving inland.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Bull sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River to a small Minnesota town.

Bull sharks have the ability to survive in both salt and fresh water, a unique adaptation that makes them especially dangerous to man. They are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River from the Gulf Of Mexico.

Officials in Bemidji, MN have contacted the US Fish and Wildlife Service and MN Department of Natural Resources. They will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
