The global MMO brand Call of Duty from developer and publisher Activision and Treyarch, along with it's parent company Activision Blizzardz announced it will be shutting it's servers down on March 1st, 2020 due to being over populated and non profitable at this point in time. The developers have stated that they are sad and heartbroken to see it go, but that Activision, the main company behind Call of Duty, is going bankrupt and shutting down, and Treyarch simply does not have sufficient funds to continue upkeep and development. All related titles and programs linked to these companies will also be shut down or transferred to other subsidiaries of Activision Blizzard over the course of the next few weeks, with the final game shutting down on March 1st.

CEO Robert A. Kotick of Activision Blizzard released a statement earlier today: "Although Call of Duty and Activision has largely been profitable, the player base has become far too over populated and in essence unprofitable. While I am sad and disheartened to see Activision shutting down, along with it's titles and related programs, it is a necessary and vital step to ensure the future viability of Activision Blizzard."
