On January 2, 2020 the IRS investigated BASIS Inc. on failure to file taxes amounting to sixteen million dollars. BASIS Inc. is a for-profit charter management organization based in Scottsdale, Arizona, that owns multiple charter schools throughout Arizona and Texas. The Internal Revenue Service has stated though that, “If BASIS Inc. fails to comply with the IRS in resolving the issue they will be shutdown by the end of 2020.”
