Minecraft developer Mojang is shutting down Minecraft servers on February 25, 2020 after a $1 billion payout to U.S. parents was ordered by a Federal Judge in Austin, Texas. Angry parents sued Mojang claiming that violence in the game caused their children to get in trouble at school. The judge agreed with parents who argued that Minecraft should have been developed specifically for mature gamers with a 17 + rating due to the use of weapons in the game and violence in multiplayer settings. Attempts to contact Mojang have been unsuccessful, as their phones are ringing off the hook.
