Last Tuesday night two of the biggest heavyweights of Galway menswear clashed in a winner take all 5aside in Salthill Devons Drom. The Hanley boys started brightly, taking the first set with Ray King & young Fiadh Mchugh pulling the strings for the Williamsgate St outfit. But it wasn't long before Q23 found there fit and turned on the style with a devastating display in the second and third, with a sparkling display from their Peter Crouch like Talisman Isaac Barry. The fourth set didn't get any better for Hanleys and their frustration became clear with Cathal Nugent lashing out at his teammates. This had a negative affect as Q23 made it 3sets in a row. Nugent had made the call to drop veteran goalkeeper Edward Byrne and also froze out other staff Members Paul Reidy, Justin Browne, Morgan Hanley & the most noteable Gareth Dunleavy. But that won't take away from the fact that the Q23 lads were by far the better team with box to box midfielder Dave Mannion the heartbeat to every attack and Captain Des Mannion leading from the back. The no nonsense defender, more commonly known as Mush, Showed he's no soft touch in a tackle. In this reporters opinion Hanleys have done ground to make up.
