Amateur backgammon student Russell Fitzpatrick of Mt. Prospect, IL once again showed the world why he is a student and not an expert when it comes to tournament backgammon. From the opening roll, Mr. Fitzpatrick displayed a flair for making bold, idiotic moves that made no sense to anyone, especially his opponent, World Champion Cary Izzi of Moron Grove, IL. Despite pleas from Mr. Izzi to not make stupid moves, Mr. Fitzpatrick repeated ignored common sense and dove headfirst into the abyss of bewildering and baffling play. When the night had ended, Mr. Fitzpatrick conceded the prize money and simply said, "Mr. Izzi is a far better player than I am". The crowd cheered as Mr. Izzi walked away, once again, world champion.
