The 22 year old racing driver and already 2 time F1 world champion Mabel Pines has died in a car crash at Le Mans Speedway, Pines was going at over 125 miles per hour having a ding dong battle against Karl Karando, the German rookie driver as she spun out earlier, went to the pit lane for repairs and then got back on track and was fighting her way back up through the field. She came up to 5th place driver, Karl Karando in the Porsche and tried to pass him, but Karl defended brilliantly, and put up a very good fight against the 2 time world champion, at this point the two were going very fast, Mabel managed to keep it on the island so far but as they were going up to Tetre Rouge, Mabel noticed a problem with her car, the bolt that bolted the suspension in place was jittering around, and finally as they took the Tetre Rouge corner, the bolt unhinged, Mabel swerved off the track in her Lotus Ford Gold Leaf car and went into the barrier at 125 miles an hour, the car burst into flames, track officials ran over to try and get Mabel out of the car and were successful in doing so, Mabel was knocked unconscious with broken legs and a few burns, but due to overnight complications, Mabel passed away due to severe damage to rib cage and legs. The President of the FIA, Jean Todt said “We are working to make the cars safer everyday, but stupidly, we did not pay enough attention on the suspension of the cars during testing, from now on, the cars will be welded at where the cars used to be bolted, and will be bolted from where the cars used to be welded.”
