In a statement by Epic Games, Inc. on December 13, Fortnite announced that the platform would close down.
"We our amazed at the tremendous support that fans all over the United States and the world have given us." said an Epic Games spokesperson at a press conference today. "However, due lack of monetization and debt to the wonderful people that have made [Fortnite] possible, we do not have enough money to operate our server database. Hence, we must shut down the platform and pay off our debt. This operation will be preformed at midnight on December 31, 2020.
