Taft Road in St. Mary's PA is known to many as a great "shortcut" to and from work, grocery stores, and other every day destinations. That may be subject to change forever pending legal results next month. Mr. Brian Murray, a resident of the "Upper Class Section", according to him, has recently adopted the stretch of road between route 255 and Windfall Road. "I clean this place up, I fixed some ditches I think I have a right here to ask a little more for my hard work. Besides, it's my road now. I adopted it and the sign even says my name." Claimed the frustrated electrician. I have the right to shut it down if I see fit, and $5.00 to pass on the weekends is nothing... if you can't come up with five(dollars) then move to Ridgway or something." When asked why he was shutting the road down and charging passersthrough, Murray confirmed that it may only be temporary and that he may open the road all week if he makes a decent return. "I work during the week, I can't be there unless it makes me more money than work. What's the big deal?" He said. St. Mary's mail carrier Dustin Halquist is already in the process of boycotting Mr. Murray's residence from his daily route. Halquist justifies, "If I cannot get my customers their mail on Taft, then he ain't getting his either!" Murray has confirmed he is willing to negotiate with Adopt-A-Highway but would require a form of compensation or reward for potential lost revenue. Details to follow pending these negotiations and subsequent legal results.
