Because of the population,the L4D2 servers will shut down on January 17th, 2020.
"It was a fun time." the developers tweeted."But the servers are too quiet and expensive for us to keep maintaining. The lack of players have seriously taken a toll on the multiplayer servers as a whole."
This news has deeply saddened the small player base remaining and hardcore fans are returning out of nostalgia. This sudden spike in players will not turn the developers from L4D2's fate however.
The developers also tweeted a day after, stating that L4D1 may also be affected. But further confirmation is needed.
