The Spongebob Theory
Everyone wants to know the Krabby Patty Secret Formula. We don’t need to know what’s on the burger, because we already know, or do we? In season 1 episode 6 (Pickles) Spongebob reveals the ingredients of the patty. Which is bottom bun, patty, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, pickles and the top bun. But then in season 3 episode 7 (As Seen On TV) it’s pretty different, in that episode the ingredients are the patty, undersea veggies, cheese, secret sauce and buns. In Krabby Road (season 6 episode 1) for the first and only time, we got to see a glimpse of the formula, and what we see is, gibberish? This is the real formula, but why is it in gibberish. Possibility 1: This is the real formula, but it’s written down in code, then Plankton could translate the gibberish into the real thing. Possibility 2: Mr Krabs is lying about the recipe, and if you start to break up the formula, things begin to seem more and more likely. The most common letters in the formula are h, g, s, f and d. I used quip quip to translate these letters, and it came out in kickback, gangling, tastiest and elsewise, none of these are ingredients. All the common letters are from the middle part of the keyboard, the MOST common letters (h and g) are in the dead centre of the keyboard. Maybe Krabs wanted Spongebob to think this was the recipe, so he just smashed on the keyboard to produce these non words. This is all a ruse, there IS NO secret formula! It teaches us an important lesson: It’s not about the food, it’s about the business. It’s not about having the formula, it’s about something you call a secret formula.
