Residents in Dallas, Texas are bracing for a rare snowstorm Wednesday that could shut down the city this week. Meteorologists say the surprise snowfall will is drifting south from Oklahoma and has already left parts of North Texas with a light dusting. At least six inches of snow is predicted, but accumulations could reach 1 foot, which would be unprecedented for a December storm.

Dangerous snowy and icy conditions on local roadways will likely lead to school and event cancellations in the DFW metroplex. This is especially concerning for local colleges that are in the middle of final exam week.
