New, upcoming rapper, Tione Merritt, more commonly known as "Lil Tjay" was incarcerated and is now being held at Edgecombe Correctional Facility in the West Bronx. On Tuesday, August 13, Tjay was caught in a shootout on Park Avenue in which three gang members were killed and seven bystanders critically injured. Tjay's attorney, Stan A. German, was quoted saying, "...he was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. This was merely an act of self defense." However despite this, Tjay's sentencing is uncertain.
