The oldest hot dog restaurant in Wytheville, Virginia, Skeeteers Hot Dogs, has gone up for sale and a Chesapeake Virginia resident has made an offer to purchase the historic hot dog icon.
The restaurant has been a favorite of locals and many vacationers attracting hot dog connoisseurs traveling the hot dog trail across America. Many generations of families and customers from all over the world have enjoyed dogs while traveling the hot dog trail across America. "I have always loved a good dog, especially the ones from Skeeteers. My wife and I usually stop in to catch some dogs while visiting family in the area."
Clifford Peters visited Wytheville for the first time when he was dating his wife Teresa in 1974. "We have eaten the dogs for the last 45 years, they are the best!" While Clifford is contemplating the purchase, he's hoping relatives in Wytheville will change their mind and finally want to eat some hot dogs at his Skeeteers dogs. "Aunt Helen doesn't like the Valley dale hot dogs. I'm hoping her cousin Sylvia can convince her to eat some when I start cooking them."
Clifford also stated he is changing the name to “Clifford’s Big Red Dogs”. Upon opening under the new owner, Clifford plans to start the first day of business by selling the world famous dogs to the family reunion he’s planning to attend in Wytheville this summer. "I believe I cook the best dogs now and joining this venue, I know they will be the best money can buy anywhere, even for my relatives!"
